BLACK MAMA’S BAILOUT 2026

Free Black Mothers. Protect Our Families.

From April 18th to May 17th, join us for the Black Mamas Bail Fund Fundraiser. Black mothers in Delaware face the constant threat of incarceration - and when one of us is behind bars, whole families feel the impact. This fund puts power back in our hands, keeping mothers and families together, protecting our children, and building community resilience.

Your support directly helps pay bail, fight unjust systems, and affirm that Black mothers’ lives, freedom, and leadership matter. Every dollar moves us closer to justice and safety for our families.

Stand with us. Free our mothers. Build our communities.

Join Us to Support Mothers in Need

Black Mothers in Power is looking for caring volunteers to help with our Bail Fund for Mothers. Many mothers - especially Black women - are stuck in jail not because of a crime, but because they can’t afford bail.

By volunteering, you can help provide bail support, reunite families, and fight for justice. Your time and compassion can make a real difference for mothers who need it most.

Bailing Out Moms for Mother’s Day in Delaware

Nearly 500 million people sit in jail every day in the United States just because they cannot afford to post bail. Throughout the country cash bail disproportionately affects communities of color. In Delaware, it’s no different. In 2020, more than 50% of people experiencing pretrial detention in Delaware identified as Black although comprising only 22% of the state’s population.

Black Mothers in Power (BMIP), Wilmington Freedom Alliance (WFA) and A Woman’s Worth Project have partnered together to bail out Black Mamas and Black Femmes for Mother’s Day.
