+Who can join and/or participate in Black Mother In Power events?

Everyone is invited to join the movement. Black Mothers In Power prioritizes the specific needs and experiences of Black birthing people. We welcome everyone who is passionate about birthing justice to join us in the fight to eradicate maternal health disparities in the state of Delaware. +I don't live in Delaware, can I get involved?

Yes, you can become a member and participate in all events/trainings that are virtual and when we go back in person, if you can. However, certain funds, scholarships, and training may cater to Delaware residents.


+I am pregnant, how can I find a Doula, Mid-wife, or Lactation Counselor?

We have a directory of Black Birthworkers in Delaware. Birthworkers include Doulas, Midwives, Lacation Counselors, etc. Subscribe to view the full listings here. Once you subscribe, you can complete the referral form to contact all the Birthworkers in the directory.


+I am a Black or Brown Birthworker in Delaware, how do I join BMIP directory? Is there a fee?

Join our directory by becoming a member here. The cost to join is currently $5 per month.


+What is a Doula? What is a Midwife? What is Lactation Counselor?

A Doula is a non-medical support person that empowers and provides mental, physical, spiritual, religious, emotional, etc. the birthing person.

A Midwife is a medical support person that provides support during labor, delivery, and after age birth of the baby.

A Lactation counselor is an individual that provide primarily breastfeeding support to parents.
